COMMON Q&A’s

Are you wanting to attend a Sunday Morning Worship Service at First Reformed Church sometime soon? Many people are nervous to visit a new church and have questions they want answered before they arrive. To help out, we’ve gathered some regularly asked questions to share with anyone wanting to visit. We hope you find these Q&A’s helpful!

Q: What time does church start?

A: Our Sunday Morning Worship Services begin at 9:30am.

Q: is your church service live-streamed?

A: Yes! Our Sunday Church Services are live-streamed on our Facebook page...

Q: What do you have for kids?

A: Nursery and Sunday School!

  • We offer a Nursery all year round for babies and young children during Sunday church services. Our caring volunteers will be in the Nursery to care for you kids during the service.

  • Sunday School classes are held after the service, during the school year (September - May).

q: What can I wear?

A: Often a cause for concern when coming to a new church is "what can I wear?" We can assure you that you will see people in a variety of clothing. Some dress up in suits and dresses while others wear a t-shirt and jeans.

Q: What is “rEFORMED”? WHAT ARE YOU Reformed from?

A: Reformed is the tradition that we come from, but you will see that we have many things in common with other traditions. We trace our theological history from John Calvin directly, but the other Reformers were Luther and Zwingli. We actually have more in common than we have different. We will not argue theological differences, but rather we will celebrate where we are alike.

Q: Can visitors take part in the Lord's Supper (communion)?

A: Of course! You do not have to be a member of this church to take communion. Our liturgy says, "All who are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and confess that Christ is Lord are welcome to the Table". If you truly believe that Jesus Christ is your savior, then you are welcome to participate.

Q: How can I get Involved?

A: We could always use volunteers at church! Whether it’s helping serve coffee and treats after the Sunday service, greeting people as they come to church, making a meal for the sick, teaching Sunday School, leading a Small Group Bible Study, assisting with various youth ministries or helping with the worship service, you could make a difference!

Talk with the Pastor or an Elder, Deacon if you’d like to volunteer but don’t know where to plug in.

Q: Do you take an offering?

A: Yes.

Offerings are taken every Sunday, after the worship service. You can also mail your offering to church, or you can give your offering online anytime by clicking the link below…

We also have a “Mission of the Month” offering which goes towards a particular mission we are supporting that month.

*You are not required to give, especially if you are a guest.

OTHER Q&A’s…

Q: Why is no one is answering the church phone?

A: Staff members may be out of the office, or couldn’t get to the phone in time. Please leave a voicemail message and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

If you are a member of First Reformed Church, make sure to contact your Care Group Leaders for any assistance if the church office is unavailable.

Q: How will I know if a Worship Service is cancelled?

A: We will contact church members about any service cancellations by phone and email. Service cancellations will be shared on our Facebook page. If possible, we will update our outdoor church sign with any service cancellations, and may have them announced on local radio stations.

Use your best judgement when traveling! If the weather conditions don’t look good or you don’t feel safe traveling, please stay home. We know that you want to come to church, but we want you to stay safe when the weather isn’t good.
